My name is Will Stahlgren. I own Heritage Wooden Boat Services. My love for wooden boats began in New England where I was raised. My Grandfather and I spent a lot of time on the water together and through him my interest grew. My experience also grew. I spent a lot of time at school in the woodshop and went on to receive formal training at Wooden Boat School in Maine where I learned restoration and repair methods. I was then employed by several restorers and boat yards which furthered my real world experience. This all resulted in my professional career which started ten years ago. In the beginning I had a mobile service which traveled to several boatyards in the upper Chesapeake Bay area doing repair and restoration of all types of boats on site. Finally, three years ago, I was able to locate permanently at Bay Boat Works in North East Maryland.
This location is one of my business' greatest strengths. Bay Boat Works is an old working yard with a long tradition of not only fixing but also building wooden boats. As mentioned on the home page, there are other services available here as well, from marine fabricators to fiberglass repair. All of this results in a large talent pool and a natural fit for Heritage Wooden Boat Services. Virtually any need or repair can be handled here, not outsourced. I am also the owner of two wooden boats. These boats provide a unique proving ground for my work. All of this brings me to what I do here; provide the wooden boat owner with the best possible craftsmanship and insight based on real world experience, training and tradition.
Thank you for your interest.
